TikTok has rapidly emerged as one of the most influential platforms for content creators worldwide, particularly in Ghana, where it has provided a stage for creative expression and entertainment.
With its short-form video format, TikTok has enabled creators to reach vast audiences, fostering a new wave of digital influencers who entertain, inform, and inspire their fans. However, while the platform’s popularity continues to soar, not all creators are reaping financial rewards.
Ebenezer Arthur, better known as Deaconess Abokomah, along with her fellow content creators, have openly shared that despite the app’s widespread use, they receive no financial benefits from their efforts.
In an interview on GTV’s ‘Spectacle,’ Abokomah, Eno Fordjour, and their friends clarified that their content creation is driven by passion and a genuine desire to entertain their audience. For them, TikTok is more than just a potential income stream; it is a platform where they can share joy, laughter, and meaningful moments with their followers.
Nevertheless, the reality of creating content without monetary compensation has led these creators to depend on the generosity of loved ones and fans. They, therefore, appealed for support in any form, whether through donations or other means, to continue their creative endeavors.
