Abban, budding Ghanaian Reggae Singer is with high hopes of debuting his name in the VGMA books this year.
The Irie Ites Studio signed artiste is quite optimistic about this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
“If nothing at all, I look forward to get at least 2 nominations. My reggae song ‘Agoro’ released last year had good rotation for both radio and TV and the loudest of it all was my ‘Say No To Drugs’ song which received good response from public on cautioning the youths against illicit drugs like Tramadol and Codeine. I have released other songs but these two songs stood out a lot in terms of promotion and influence. Any other nominations that the two songs will bring me are welcome and more importantly I would look forward to winning as well, not just getting nominated. Both songs were popular in the year under review and made a huge impact in the Industry. Big Thanks to my Management, Irie Ites Studio, who have been very supportive. My works were out there from the beginning of the year to the end of last year”, Abban told BeenieWords in an interview.
“You can’t talk about any Reggae song that made an impact in the calendar year without mentioning any of my songs especially ‘Agoro’ and ‘Say No To Drugs’. 3 of my songs were accompanied with visuals and were on rotation across the radio stations in Ghana. Hopefully I know the board will make good checks and know more; I am not speaking just for the hype of it”, he added.
However, he says he wouldn’t be disappointed in case he doesn’t get nominated. The VGMA window for entries ended on January 31, 2019. It’s an annual occasion to celebrate and reward Ghanaian Music and Industry Players.
Born Bernard Fiifi Abban, the young musician who is in his twenties comes across as one of the fast rising Ghanaian acts defending Reggae music with a very refined brand and matured lyrics. He is a known face within the Reggae/Dancehall community and has played many major shows last year.
