The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has presented ace broadcaster and social activist Kwami Sefa-Kayi with a citation naming him an Anti-Corruption Star as part of the Union’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign supported by STAR-Ghana Foundation.

According to outgoing President of the Union, Bice Osei Kuffour, the decision to honor Kwami was taken by the Project Management Team (PMT) of the Union’s anti-corruption campaign. He expressed the view that the award presented to Kwami will encourage more anti-corruption crusaders to be unrelenting in the anti-corruption fight.

On his part, Kwami who is affectionately called Chairman-General by both his panelists on his show and listeners alike expressed his delight at the honor done him. “I am highly delighted by this honor from MUSIGA which places even more responsibility on me and since we do the work for the love of God and country, we will continue to do our best.”

Activities which formed part of the MUSIGA anti-corruption campaign included an All Star song and video which featured the likes of VGMA Artiste of the Year, EL; award winning artistes Dr. Knii Lante, Kuame Eugene, Kidi, Cina Soul and Okyeame Kwame aka Rap Dr. Other activities included anti-corruption walks in Accra and Kumasi and anti-corruption drama video by the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG). The Union was supported by Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) and Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

Present at the presentation were 1st Vice President of the Union, Bessa Simons; a former President of the Union, Diana Hopeson; the General Secretary of the Union, Deborah Freeman and the Director of Communications and Special Projects, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey. Also present was the General Manager of Peace FM, Osei Kwame Jnr.

Kwami Sefa-Kayi affectionately known as Chairman-General by your panelists and listeners alike, your ongoing campaign for a better life for Ghanaians through your strident social advocacy deserves commendation.

Your analytical attention to detail and your constant striving to ensure that politicians deliver on their mandate while eschewing corruption has endeared you to many a Ghanaian.

In addition to your social advocacy, your work as a broadcaster, social commentator and a role model begets admiration and it is for this reason that the Project Management Team of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) appoints you a MUSIGA Anti-Corruption Star.

This is part of MUSIGA’s anti-corruption campaign entitled, “The Role of Music in the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACAP) supported by STAR-Ghana Foundation.
