Former VGMA artiste of the year – Stonebwoy has made a very profound statement at the just ended Ghana Music Awards UK saying that he focuses on producing good songs and not Hit songs.
The “People Dey” hit maker made this statement when he mounted the stage to receive his award for winning reggae Dancehall song of the year with his “Go higher” smash hit.
One would say the Dancehall warrior was taking a swipe at someone with that statement he made. But whoever it was he was taking a swipe at, he did not mention. Stonebwoy in addition to winning the award for reggae Dancehall song of the year, also took home the award for Album of the year with his “Necessary Evil” album.
He later took to the stage to dish out some energy-filled performance to a play back. Though Stonebwoy is noted lately for live performances, it was unclear what made him perform to playback when there was actually a live band set up which he could have used.
The night went down well with patrons having a blast. Others who also won awards on the night include Bisa Kdei, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Sonie Badu, Fuse ODG, SP Kofi Sarpong, EL, Mr. Eazy, Kofi Kinaata among others.
Ghana Music Awards UK 2016 was aired live on Pluzz 89.9 FM in Ghana.
