It is now a trend for Nigeria celebrities that once their marriage is about to hit the rocks, the couple unfollow each other on social media, making our FBI instincts come alive to start investigating and looking for the cause of their wahala.

If you are tired of the marriage, can you leave without unfollowing and deleting pictures from social media? Or without changing their names?

When Lilian Esoro and her estranged husband Ubi Franklin were together, we awwwwed to their pictures screaming couple goals here and there. I must warn you, do not tap into anybody’s marriage. Nothing is as it seems. When the marriage was falling apart, she deleted her hubby’s pictures and kept mute, but her husband didn’t keep mute. Anyway, he wasn’t supposed to because it was our wedding. We were actively involved in the wedding even though we were not invited, but we were present, how cool is that?

When Damilola Adegbite’s marriage to Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh was about to be past tense, we noticed the same thing.

Mercy Aigbe wasn’t any different as she unfollowed her estranged husband (we don’t know if they are still married though) when they had issues. It seems that things are currently fine with them as she started following him again recently on Instagram.

Tonto Dikeh did not fail to remove the ‘Mrs.’ and ‘Churchill’ tag from her name when her marriage to Olakunle Churchill hit the rocks.

The latest is Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie deleting her hubby’s pictures from Instagram and bloggers starting to speculate that something might be wrong with their marriage. I don’t think bloggers are to blame in this case because that has become the normal trend. Deleting your partner’s pictures from your page always insinuates something.

Mercy Johnson, however, posted another photo of herself with her husband in matching pyjamas, reading the bible to refute the rumour.

Remember that Uche Jumbo removed her hubby’s name from her Instagram page and people were speculating that there is a problem. It’s still not their fault.

People move on differently, but if you don’t want the public in your case, don’t take actions that will make them turn into FBI agents. It’s just a stale trend we have noticed and we hope 2018 will give us a breath of fresh air.
