Jonathan Smith better known by his stage name Lil Jon, is an American rapper, record producer, and DJ who in recent time donated a total of $70,000 to fund a school in Ghana, along with another that opened somewhere October, 2017. Information reaching me indicates he joined forces with Pencils Of Promise, a global community that believes everyone deserves access to quality education to help structure de rigueur education to children in underdeveloped countries like Ghana. Their ultimate aim is to reshape the landscape of education guided by their 100% PROMISE.

Education they say is not preparation for life; education is life itself. Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school. The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.

Mafi Atitekpo DA Primary School, located in Adidome in the Volta region is the second of two schools he has helped fund. The school will enroll 313 children in the village of Mafi Atitekpo in Ghana. He stated, when he saw the conditions where these children were trying to learn, one community they had a big mango tree and two classes were sitting under the mango tree and that’s not a condition conducive with learning.

In his concluding remarks, he added that, his passionate role and responsibility as a father triggered him to join the organization – “Children shouldn’t have to suffer for any reason.” “One of these kids could grow up to be a scientist, a lawyer, an astronaut, the president of their country. I could create an environment where all these things could happen.” He ended.
