Mercy Aigbe and Lanre Gentry may be back together again.

Last night, the Nollywood actress shared her photo with her embattled husband Lanre Gentry with a caption that sparked speculation that the actress has made peace with him.

Or she was messing with her fans all along.

This update came hours after her husband granted Best of Nollywood an interview following news reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affair is investigating the hotelier for possible prosecution over alleged battery and assault.

Ever since the drama started, Gentry insisted he never attacked his wife. And in his interview yesterday, the hotelier said he endured what many men never would during the course of their 7-year marriage.

Here’s what Gentry told BON:

“Would she have been in my house for 7 years if I beat her? I don’t know why she pulled such a picture stunt but I know the person that rented the house for her and the pictures and all are just stunts to paint me bad and gain sympathy.

“You know where Mercy was before I married her and in 7 years, I think I have tried but she has other ideas and most of the things that I take from her, most men wouldn’t take it and I hope she won’t allow me to talk if she keeps smearing my name.

“I am trying to be calm because I don’t want to use my hand to destroy what I help created.”

Only days ago, photos of the alleged battering the actress endured, plus a radiology report, went viral on social media, fueling the speculation that they were over.

It is unclear if the couple has made peace, because first posted and deleted the photo captioned with the happy emojis:

Then, she deleted and reposted same photo with a new caption that says, “Over to you, Jehova.”

And this has pissed off many people.

While some think the couple are messing with the minds of Nigerians, others have some terse words for the actress who continues to taunt fans rather that directly address the claims.

One fan, priscaberry wrote: “Everyone has a chapter in their lives that they don’t read out loud so don’t give anyone an opportunity to sit high and judge u. I still wonder why our celebrities always live their lives on Social media ?? thereby giving people the chance to judge and insult them. Fix it Jesus ?”

binttah: “Confused woman hiss.”

phat_chyna: “Both of them are mad, really mad.”
