MTV Base celebrates yet another milestone as they beat the drums for 14 years of operations on February 22, 2019. The Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN) property was launched in February 2005 and has been made available in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa ever since catering to the music needs of audiences in the West, East and Southern Africa regions.
Apart from broadcasting top notch music videos, MTV Base also has a number of original programs to their name including MTV Shuga, Slayed or Shade, Musicology, Official Naija Top Ten, The Bigger Friday Show and Base FaceOff. In commemoration of remaining in the business for over a decade, MTV Base will be taking over the March edition of Mainland Block Party.
14 years of promoting and elevating good music is no easy feat so a celebration of this magnitude is definitely in order for the brand. Speaking on the anniversary celebration and Block Party takeover, here’s what Country Manager, Bada Akintunde – Johnson, had to say:
“Fourteen years in this industry is no easy feat and we are grateful for all the support that we have received from our viewers over the years. We look forward to more years of showcasing Africa to the world. If there is one thing we have learnt as a brand, after working with millennials for almost two decades, we have come to see that there is power in collaboration and we’ve found for ourselves that the truism, ‘stronger together’ still rings true. This is why we’ve decided that collaborating with an existing event that is as successful and popular as Mainland Block Party would be an ideal decision. We are working around the clock to make this party a truly special one and we cannot wait for everyone to come and experience MTV Base like never before.”
The Mainland Block Party collaboration is definitely a perfect fit for the 24-hour music channel which is consumed majorly by millennials. The sure to be unforgettable party experience will take place on March 3, 2019 and with just one thousand naira, anyone can come out and turn up with MTV Base on their big day.
