Zegna Group has unveiled a major leadership restructure, set to take effect on January 1, 2026, marking a significant generational transition for the storied Italian fashion house.

Ermenegildo “Gildo” Zegna, who has steered the company as CEO since 2005, will transition to the newly created position of group executive chair. In this role, he will concentrate on preserving the heritage and brand identity of the group’s portfolio—Zegna, Thom Browne, and Tom Ford Fashion. He will continue to oversee the group’s textiles division, legal affairs, and external relations, including sustainability initiatives, investor relations, and corporate communications.

Gianluca Tagliabue, the group’s chief financial and operating officer, will step up as group CEO. Meanwhile, Gildo’s sons—Edoardo, 39, and Angelo, 37—will jointly lead the Zegna brand as co-CEOs. Edoardo, who currently serves as chief marketing and digital officer as well as group chief sustainability officer, will direct brand strategy, marketing, image, and design-related functions. Angelo, presently CEO for the EMEA region and global client strategy director, will take charge of product development, merchandising, and commercial operations.

Reflecting on the transition, Gildo shared: “ZEGNA has always been more than a brand — it is a family story that connects generations. More than 115 years ago, my grandfather Ermenegildo dreamt of building a legacy that could endure and be passed from one generation to the next: timeless garments made with care, respect, and responsibility, meant to accompany a man through life and be handed down. Today, strengthened by decades of shared work and experience, l am proud to pass the responsibility of leading the ZEGNA Brand to my sons, Angelo and Edoardo, who will become Co-Chief Executive Officers on January 1, 2026. This transition reflects years of listening and learning what makes ZEGNA unique. It is a natural evolution — one that ensures continuity while opening space for the next generation to bring their perspective and energy. I will continue my journey as Executive Chairman of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group.
