When asked what inspired her to start a business, make up artist Margee shared, “I did not want to just work a job. I wanted to get paid for doing what I am passionate about, which is enhancing beauty with make up. I love what I do.”
CEO of Styles By Trey and celebrity stylist, Empress Jamila, shared she got her start after a woman told her she could get paid for styling people.
“I just wanted to bring everything I love together, fashion, women entrepreneurs, good music and good vibes. We need more events like this where women can come together, have fun and support each other. We should be working together, not against eachother,” shared Yasmine Sangari,
Mixers With Yasmine proved to be multifaceted as the event included a fashion preview of sugarkoated.com’s Casual, Glitz and Glam, and Nude collections. Each model was dressed in pieces that could be worn for different occasions. The event was supported with sounds and vibes from DJ JP along with mocktails and cocktails curated by Level 8 lounge mixologists.
In addition to cocktails and conversation, Mixers With Yasmine, collected lightly used clothing and funds which went to The Charlotte Light Foundation, a non government organization geared toward supporting children with HIV AIDS in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
“I think fashion is a medium that can bring everyone together and get us to talk and build. I definitely plan to do more.”
