Wizkid isn’t one to take nonsense from Award shows organizers, regardless of it being international or not.
The singer in a recent interview spoke on how International awards like the BETs treat African artistes differently, by giving them their awards backstage.
While some African singers may find it exciting receiving these awards, Just because it’s ‘International’, Wizkid says he doesn’t do that as he has his pride to keep.
“That is why i don’t go for their shows mehn”, The singer said.
He was then asked how African artistes can elevate themselves and gain that retributtion so everyone knows who they are. He said;
“To be honest, By not taking nonsense from anyone that is trying to give us awards backstage. That is what i do, I don’t take nonsense from anyone that is trying to look down on Africa or African entertainment. So if you are not going to show us the same love you show your international artiste, if you are not going to show us that same love on the main stage then don’t show us no love at all, we don’t want it, we have our people and we are content with our own people”
