Chef Winnie Nwania is joining Honey TV with a dynamic cooking show called My Naija Plate. The Lagos-based food entrepreneur, farmer and media personality has amassed a committed online audience with over 500,000 YouTube subscribers and over 300,000 followers on Instagram. The new HONEY show features Chef Winnie introducing viewers to the vibrance of Nigerian dishes, how to cook them and how to easily source ingredients.
Hair Knockout’s Adeola Ariyo also returns for a second season following the popularity of the first. And in more fresh content straight from Nigeria, the channel welcomes more thrilling talent on The Buzz (Pearl Umeh). Here are all the Nigerians joining Honey TV on different shows this September:
Chef Winnie On My Naija Plate – Season 1 (Brand New)
After conquering Youtube by sharing her personalised Nigerian recipes with over 500,000 subscribers, Chef Winnie Nwania is taking her love for Nigerian cuisine to TV. Her brand new show My Naija Plate will have 13 episodes and run for 30 minutes each episode. It premiered on Honey TV on September 14, 2021, and airs every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The first season will run until December 7, 2021. Chef Winnie celebrates Nigerian food in this upbeat cooking show.
She takes viewers on a whirlwind exploration of popular Nigerian dishes, from plantain and Egusi to Nigeria’s famous jollof rice. She explores the most exciting recipes made with ingredients that are simple and authentically Nigerian. She also shares the tips and tricks that are key to Nigerian cuisine. Watch the promo here.
Adeola Ariyo On Hair Knockout (Season 2)
International Nigerian model Adeola Ariyo hosts season two of Hair Knockout. The 13-episode series sees talented stylists take each other on in a boxing ring to see whose hair creation will take the title. The 30-minute long show is a thrilling hairstyling competition in which one of the stylists will reign supreme. In a studio-based boxing ring, two stylists go toe to toe for the prize. In each episode, they are tasked with creating the best version of a particular style. They have a limited amount of time and resources. At the end of each episode, the team hits the streets to find out which style people think is the best. The show airs every Tuesday at 5:30 pm on Honey TV.
Pearl Umeh on The Buzz – Season 7 (On-air)
Nigerian-born Pearl Umeh continues to shine on the most popular talk show, The Buzz on Honey TV for a fifth season. She alongside four other women, including Anele Mdoda, Davina Mavuwa, Rachel Mwangemi, Zanna Katoka, share their opinions and anecdotes on everyday life issues. The 13-episode packed season is driven by an ‘agony aunt type’ letter outlining a viewer’s dilemma – be it about romance, health, their hustle, family or friends. The Buzz team offer their advice and through the course of the 30-minute episode, they reveal more details around the conundrum. To conclude, they vote on the matter. It airs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 pm on the TV station.
