The first episode of MTV Shuga: Alone Together dropped last night!
Ever since the announcement about the new MTV Shuga mini-series was made, we have been waiting (and waiting!) for the new episode to drop.
The episode lasted for only five minutes, but it definitely didn’t disappoint.
MTV Shuga: Alone Together is exploring how people in different African countries (Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and South Africa) are coping with the lockdown and will depict how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting every aspect of life.
Even though this new season was entirely self-filmed by the actors, it did not compromise on quality in any way.
This first episode from the new season is as relatable as ever.
Wasiu (AKA Da Waz, or Wazkid for short) gave us lots of laughs as he went on Instagram Live to spread conspiracy theories and fake news. We’re sure you’ll remember the ‘Whatsapp Warriors’ on your contact list when you watch this episode. You know them, right?
Tobi (Timini Egbuson) also put up a brief but strong appearance as Wasiu’s exasperated boss. Apparently, Wasiu was using his boss’ company accounts to spread fake news! Ooops. Looks like Wazkid is in trouble!
In times like this, it’s really great to have something fun and fresh to anticipate. We look forward to seeing the perspective of the other characters and how they are coping with the lockdown in their respective countries.
