Since opening in 2011, international hospitality and design industry vanguards such as World Travel Awards, Conde Nast Johanssens, Elle Decoration UK, and Trip Advisor have recognized Villa Monticello for its world class service, exceptional design and fine dining restaurant, Chapter One with awards such as the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence every year since 2013, a prestigious award bestowed upon the top-performing 10% of all businesses worldwide on TripAdvisor, the coveted Ghana’s Leading Hotel award in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016 as well as Ghana’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2016 and Ghana’s Leading Hotel Suite 2016 by the World Travel Awards, the “Oscars” of the travel industry.
Each of Villa Monticello’s 16 luxury suites is inspired by a different international city or personality which is uniquely reflected in the design and decor including Manhattan, Provence and Marrekesh and several rooms which pay homage to Ghana’s rich history and tradition such as Elmina, Nzulezu and the Kwame Nkrumah Presidential Suite. Villa Monticello also boasts four meeting rooms to accommodate both intimate and larger business meetings and private gatherings, a state of the art gym and soon to be revealed Courtyard for tranquil lounging.
“The idea for Villa Monticello came about through a desire to create an establishment that paralleled some of the international 5 star niche boutique hotels that we loved in cities around the world, where luxury and service were not mutually exclusive,” shares Anita Ottenhoff, the Deputy General Manager and one of Villa Monticello’s all-female led managerial team.
Recently Villa Monticello has expanded with diverse additions to its brand portfolio which include:
Chapter One – Fine dining restaurant headed by internationally recognized executive chef, Ruby Paintsil
Barrels Wine – an exclusive distributor of wine from boutique South African vineyards and wineries
Rapport – Corporate and personalized catering service by Chapter One
Koncierge – a luxury concierge service that offers total access to Accra and the surrounding region
“In the six years since we opened our doors, the luxury landscape has really begun to develop in Accra– in real estate, hospitality, retail, and dining. It’s still at early stage but we believe we have contributed to its growth. We have been leaders in the industry and we are constantly striving to play a significant role in elevating the standards of Ghana’s blooming hospitality industry,” adds Ottenhof who believes “the core Villa Monticello value of impeccable customer service, guests and travelers from around the world who are endeared to our concept and a team whose collective vision is aligned with our mission to be a leader in African hospitality,” has been the winning combination for six years of continued success.
