The Emmy Awards held last night in Los Angeles, California, USA and it was a huge and a memorable day for the winners but especially for 57-year-old Glenn Weiss who not only won the Emmy for outstanding directing for a variety special but also used it as a golden opportunity to propose to his 69-year-old girlfriend Jan Svendsen, an American athlete.
His proposal made the record as first in Primetime Emmy Awards history.
He did his proposal as he mounted the stage to give an acceptance speech when he was announced as the winner for a category.
While giving his speech, Glenn pointed out how his mother always believed in “finding the sunshine,” referring to Jan Svendsen as “the sunshine in his life.” He continued:
“And Mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine. You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife”
Just as he mentioned the word “wife”, the crowd began clapping and cheering knowing what was coming next.
Thrilled Jan Svendsen went up the stage and the beautiful moment was concluded.
