Hailing from Kumasi, Ghana, UK based producer, songwriter and artist, Kaywuu is nothing short of a wordsmith. Influenced by old-school Ghanaian High-life, Hip-hop, Jazz & Afro-soul, his eclectic vibe, and catchy lyrics transcend genres, reaching a very broad and diverse audience. His debut single, ‘Melanin’ placed him on the map as an artist to look out for and now, he’s back at it with the release of ‘Sexy Murder’.

Growing up, Kaywuu was influenced by songs from legends such as Amakye Dede, Kojo Antwi, Fela Kuti, and C.K Mann. He derives inspiration from the fusion of Afrobeat, soul, and high-life coming particularly from West and Southern Africa. His passion for music stems from his belief in its ability to broaden our realities, making the worlds of others more accessible.

Kaywuu emerged on the music scene in 2007 as a member of the band, Soul Brodez. The group which was formed at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Ghana gained popularity beyond the University grounds but dissolved at the peak of their success due to irreconcilable differences. Kaywuu would take a 7-year absence from the music scene but in 2014 would re-emerge, making beats and producing for up and coming local artists.

His passion for writing and performance, however, never dwindled and in 2017 a conversation with the very talented Ghanaian record producer, M.O.G Beatz would place him back in the limelight as a performing artist.

Following the release of MELANIN, it seemed that all went quiet on the western front, but now, he is scheduled to drop what is sure to be a hit banger, SEXY MURDER. We stopped to have a quick catch up with the artist himself and find out what he’s been cooking up.

With so many talented and emerging artist in the Afrobeat’s genre, originality is everything, and according to KAYWUU, this is something he certainly wants to carve for himself. “There’s a ton of artists who inspire me and whose careers I’ve followed over the years. The most successful artists have a sound and style that’s unique to them, it may not be to everyone’s liking, but those who love it, encourage them to continue to create. And ultimately, this is what it’s about, building a unique sound and brand that people love and identify as KAYWUU. So, that’s what I’ve been doing this past year, I’ve been working on my craft. After the release of MELANIN, I sat down with my team to discuss the future of my independent label, GHANAMAN ENTERTAINMENT and I’m very happy with the body of work I’ve amassed over the course of this year which I’m excited to share with fans.”

So, you’ve heard it from here, 2019 is the year of KAYWUU! If MELANIN and SEXY MURDER are anything to go by, then this is an artist to definitely watch out for.
