Much focus will be on Cameroon, whose seniors recently won the African Championship, who will have the opportunity to wrap up a successful start to 2017 should the junior Indomitable Lions successfully overcome their opponents.
Many of the teams will be looking to gain momentum and achieve a top-four finish to secure a place in the U-20 World Cup later this year. Zambia, in particular, will be looking to home ground advantage and possibly achieving their greatest finish in the tournament since 2007.
