The video will be streamed in 360 degrees format with a comment feature that will allow for public participation in one of the most important moments in Kenya’s democratic process.
This represents an opportunity for the electorate to contribute to the conversation through opinions and comment which will be shared in the cause of the debate. In addition to this, there will be a panel of experts in the P Live studio discussing critical points of the debate, all on P Live’s Facebook Live platform.
Speaking on the partnership, Fares Akkad (Head of Media Partnerships Facebook- Middle East,Turkey & Africa) believes Facebook has the best partner to execute its format. “P Live is the ideal partner for our 360 degree live-stream of the Presidential Debate: a young team which has lots of digital experience and knowledge around utilizing our channel, with their live formats and engaging content. With their audience we will get the Millennials taking part in politics and trying out new video-formats.’
Ringier AG, through its Pulse/P Live digital publishing brands, is one of the few media brands in Africa currently employing 360 digital technology.
In the words of Tim Kollmann (Managing Director Ringier Africa Digital Publishing) ‘The exclusive 360 degree live-stream is exactly the format, which fits the audience of our Pulse brands in Africa. Every day our brands search for uniqueness and engaging content. Being chosen as the partner of Facebook in the Kenyan elections, with a great innovative solution, this exactly what our audience expects from us.’
On her part, Ringier Africa Digital Publishing Director for East-Africa, Leonie von Elverfeldt is excited about the partnership opportunity ‘to further test and learn, as well as making news even more accessible than ever before and engage our audience on different levels.’
