Trevor Noah, 32, has been chosen to host the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards.
Noah is the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show in New York City.
He will be presenting the sixth edition of MAMAs on Saturday, October 22, at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg.
The event which will telecast live for two-hours will be viewable on MTV Base – DStv: Channel 322.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Noah said:
I’m a huge fan of African music and achievement, and it’s going to be a massive pleasure celebrating them both at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 in my own hometown of Johannesburg.

Trevor Noah Hosting The 2016 MAMA Is A Powerful Message
Alex Okosi, the senior vice president and managing director at Viacom International Media Networks Africa, praised Trevor Noah’s selection. Okosi said:
Trevor Noah is an outstanding entertainer and testament to the amazing talent that Africa has to offer the world.
To have him host the MAMA, our annual celebration of Africa music, creativity and achievement, is a powerful and inspiring message.
We are delighted that our first-ever show in Johannesburg will be presented by one of the city’s most loved and admired personalities.
This year’s MAMA will have performances by Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee, Yemi Alade, Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, amongst others.
Variety reported that MAMAs 2016 will air live across Africa on multi-platform network MTV Base and MTV in Africa.
The event will also air globally in full on partner stations and content platforms, while MTV channels around the world will be airing a one-hour MAMA-themed edition of MTV World Stage.
