Last night in Bilbao, Spain, history was made as Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage was announced as the Best African Act at the 2018 MTV Emas, making her the first female to ever win the coveted award.
Tiwa beat other African stars including Davido (Nigeria), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Nyashinksi (Kenya), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Shekninah (South Africa) to clinch the award.
She dedicated the win to her son Jamil and her fans as she accepted the award on stage.
Taking to her Instagram page a while later, she wrote:
Almighty God, you ARE so faithful. My savage soldiers you did this for us. You’ve stuck with me through the roller coasters, THANK YOU
To my amazing team, this is just the beginning.
African Woman, this is for US
