Thomas Partey Charged with Multiple Sexual Offences

Thomas Partey, a Ghanaian and former Arsenal midfielder, has been formally charged by the Metropolitan Police Service with multiple sexual offences, including five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The charges stem from alleged incidents involving three different women, said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022. Authorities say two of the rape charges relate to one woman, three to a second, while the sexual assault charge concerns a third woman.

The 32-year-old is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

Partey, who signed with Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020 for £45 million, became a free agent at the end of June when his contract with the north London club expired. Last season, he featured in 35 Premier League games, scoring four goals, as Arsenal finished runners-up in the league.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, whose unit is handling the case, stressed that the focus remains on the wellbeing of the women involved. “Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward,” he said.
