Lang’ata Women’s Maximum Prison in Nairobi Kenya is not only known for housing the most dangerous women in Kenya, it is also know for its pageant, and social media users can’t get enough of the newly crowned Miss Lang’ata Women’s Prison 2016.

The beauty pageant which was held on Wednesday, 31st August featured performances from local acts such as Avril Nyambura.

Ruth Kamande Wanjiru, 21, floored her fellow contestants to be crowned the fairest beauty.

A Tanzanian by the name Tina Martin emerged first runners-up. Reports indicate that she is being held at the remand facility for a drug-related crime.

In third place was Susan Wairimu who is in prison after participating in a robbery and murder-related crime.

A 21-year-old Ruth Kamande is facing murder charges for the brutal murder of her boyfriend Farid Mohammedin September 2015 at their Buruburu home in Nairobi.Miss Lang’ata Women’s Prison 20163

The accused is said to have stabbed her lover to death after finding a love message from another woman on his phone. The deceased died while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Kamande beat 19 other contestants to win the Miss Lang’ata prison title which is held annually. The event is meant to support the rehabilitation of female prisoners at the facility.
