Everybody can attest to the fact that Ebony Reigns was definitely one of the biggest breakthrough / hit-maker in 2017 but the whole Ghana is in a state of shock now with news circulating on social media about the sudden afterlife of extremely vibrant, energetic, sassy yet talented reggae/dancehall songstress Ebony Reigns. Social media is flooded with pictures and heated controversies surrounding the cause of her demise with her best friend and the soldier on board. Though the driver survived, he sustained some serious injuries whereby receiving treatment at the Bechem Goverment Hospital.

Many are also heartbroken upon hearing the displeasing incident that took place last night between the hours to 10 – 11 pm. High profile personalities from the office of the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, to well celebrated public figures like Sarkodie, Stonebowy, Sadiq Abudulai, Delay, Mugeez, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson and many others took to their mini blogs to extend the deepest condolences to the family of Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng.

As a follow up to my previous article announcing the death of Ebony, here’s an all-embracing account on what exactly happened on Thursday night on her return from Sunyani to Accra. Upon hearing the arrival of her mother from UK, Ebony decided to surprise her with an unexpected quick visit to wow her. She had discussed visiting her mum with her dad. God been so good, she arrived safely, her family embraced her with a heart touching welcoming ceremony for her unprecedented achievement and success with this short span. According to a close relative of the deceased, before Ebony got to the entrance of the family house, a strange wind blew approximately 5 minutes, this triggered her mum and couple of aunties who were around to hide themselves in their room as a safety measure. Immediately the mysterious wind ceased to blow, Ebony announced her presence on the compound accompanied by her best friend (Frankie Kuri), a soldier (Vondee Francis Atsu) and the driver (not disclosed) who drove them.

Prior to her arrival at the family house, one of her aunt’s related the issue to the wind that blew by saying; a notable figure has paid as a visit, for that reason God is wonderful. She is now known by the masses, she added.

Thereafter, she requested that they fix them something palatable to eat, which they did! Her mum doesn’t get to see her often so she bought her daughter many goodies from UK. The wrapped up everything very fast just so Ebony could return to the capital, Accra. Her mum insisted her daughter spends the night with her but Ebony maintained that she had some duty calls to attend to, therefore she needs to set off. With respect to her daughter’s explanation, her mum had no than option than to allow her to travel back to Accra. Report has it that her dad also called an hour before the accident informing to stay in Sunyani because it was late but all couldn’t save her breath.

On her return to Accra on Thursday night 8/2/2018, an eye witness who was a passenger on the VIP bus narrated how the accident occurred. According to him, before the accident happened, the jeep in which Ebony and her crew were driving in was over taking a another vehicle ahead of them on a top speed meanwhile the VIP bus was on the other side of the road. So what happened was, in an attempt to swerve the jeep driving towards the VIP bus, the jeep collided with the bus which led to a serious somersault on the jeep. The accident reportedly took place at about 10:20 pm Thursday evening. Instantaneously, the driver who was said to have survived managed to come of the car sustaining serious injuries alerted the eye witnesses present that Ebony and other two people were still in the car and that he begs of them, they should rescue them. Unfortunately they didn’t take his account serious because they thought the driver was acting to speaking on impulse based on the shock he had surviving such a calamitous accident. The accident alarmed persons living around the locality, immediately they rushed to the accident scene attracted countless people.

The heavy-hearted part of the news is, she won’t live to see the peak of her career after so much hard-work, tossing and turning, resource and energy invested into building her brand as an artist. Ever since she surfaced up as an artist, one could say she had a promising music career. Her death is a big blow to her family, fans, friends, Ghana and the economy at large.
