Hollywood siblings Kwame Boateng, Kofi Siriboe and Kwesi Boakye (the K Brothers) spent their Christmas outside of glitzy Tinseltown by visiting Ghana for the first time.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the K Brothers are first generation Ghanaians so they used their Christmas homecoming to connect with their roots and celebrate the holidays with family, friends and fellow Ghanaians.

While in Ghana, the brothers spent some days in Kumasi where the paid homage to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and  as well visited the Elmina Castle. They also visited the Great Mission Orphanage in Teshie, Accra, where they spent time with the kids and made donations to the home.

They also experienced and fell in love with nightlife and the party scene in Accra. I caught up with them before Kofi and Kwesi left Ghana, to find out about their first experience of Ghana, from the music to the food and more. They described the Ghana experience as overwhelming because “people accepted us with so much love and embrace. It’s been so much fun, it’s been one big party.”

Kwame cited Carbon as his favorite place to hang out. For Kwesi it was Carbon and Twist, while Kofi couldn’t seem to get enough of Country Kitchen’s fufu. Kwesi particularly enjoyed Mr Eazi ‘Leg Over’ song, but Joey B’s ‘You and I’ seemed to be a favorite for the trio.

They described their visit to the orphanage home as one of the best part of their trip to Ghana. “It was a fun day with the kids. We ended up buying them a bouncy castle for them to keep. So they can also jump around and have fun and exercise. They loved the bouncy castle. They showed us some cultural dances too. We really had fun with the kids.”

The brothers also described their visit to Elmina Castle as beautiful with a lot of mixed emotions and great history. They cited meeting the Asantehene as another highlight of their trip. “He gave us his blessings for what we are doing in Hollywood.”

2017 is already looking great for all three brothers and already they are looking forward to coming back to Ghana and taking part in the 60th Independence Day celebrations.

“Stay Tuned for ‘The Plug’. I’ve got some big announcement coming up soon. Also I’m doing some stuff in Germany but also back to acting and lot of TV and movies. As usual I will be travelling around the world and showing people all the cool parties around the world,” Kwame revealed some of what fans can expect from him in 2017.

“In 2017 I have a show called ‘Colony’ coming out, season two. And in 2017, I’m looking forward to people seeing the grown side of Kwesi. I have been in Hollywood since I was very young and everyone is so stuck on me being a baby,” said Kwesi.

Fans of Kofi should also expect to see more of him in 2017. “Season 2 of ‘Queen Sugar’, we start filming in February, we’re doing 16 episodes. In July I have my movie ‘Girl Trip ‘coming out. It features Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Larenz Tate and a bunch of amazing people. It’s going to be great and in between that I would be writing and taking pictures also”.
