The Lady program has since trained 61 young ladies between the ages of 18-25 over three cohorts this year focusing on the areas of self-confidence, career readiness, wellness, and financial literacy.

Two awards will also be given at the Poised to Prosper; The Villa Monticello Scholarship Award, to support an aspiring lady in her academic pursuits and The Lady Essence Award, to celebrate a lady who has espoused the values of the initiative.

“The Lady has been a safe forum for young ladies to develop confidence and character as they transition from girl to woman. We called the conference, “Poised to Prosper” because we believe these young women are all at the stage of making great decisions to secure their futures. The intention of the conference is to give them real insight from amazing women who have succeeded in managing multiple activities and priorities, as well as practical tools to achieve their potentials,” shares Isobel Acquah, founder of The Lady and a strategy and transformational development consultant, lawyer, and former chair of the EMEA Multi Cultural Leadership Network at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

“In the hospitality industry, we have experienced first-hand a rapid rise in young women’s interest and desire to be a part of this exciting market segment. Our close interactions with many young women on our staff and leadership team have allowed us to identify the social and educational learning gap that is required for job entry and career advancement. ‘The Lady’ represented an opportunity for us to contribute to the training and nurturing of the next generation of women leaders,” says Laurie Awotwi, Managing Director of Villa Monticello.

Following the success of The Lady 2016 programme and the interest that has been generated from ladies across different age groups, two quarterly The Lady programmes will be launched for Young Ladies (aged 14 to 18 with a focus on confidence building) and Corporate Ladies (for middle management women with a focus on career development, commercial awareness and business etiquette).
