One of the artistes of the moment, Tekno, has been disqualified from the only category he was nominated in at the 2016 Headies Awards.
The Triple MG star was nominated in the highly coveted ‘Next Rated’ category alongside YCee, Humblesmith, Mr Eazi and Aramide.
In an instagram post over a month ago, Tekno had called out the Headies organization for putting him in the next rated category even though he had been in the industry for a while and had dropped quite a number of hits. The organization, however, explained that any artist that hasn’t dropped an album can be put in the “Next Rated” category.
In the Instagram post, Tekno wrote “Next rated after how many years! Let’s be honest pls”.
The organisers disqualified the artiste stating that he failed to show up at any of the mandatory activities required of nominees in the next rated category.

The 2016 Headies Awards is scheduled to hold today at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre and will be hosted by rapper Falz and Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi.
