Tale(nt) of Rome is divided into two main stages:
In the first stage, the presence of the Ex-Dogana served as inspiration to revisit the most emblematic places of the adjacent areas for inclusion in the organizational process of the event. The two spaces selected, conceptually symbiotic, but differing in terms of their architectural styles, will host the exhibitions of 5 designers, in addition to other side events, intensifying the positive impact generated by the presence of this event in the area. De Couture, Giancarlo Petriglia and San Andrès Milano will present their SS 2017 collections at the spaces of ITIS Galileo Galilei, while those of Marianna Cimini and Caterina Zangrando will be showcased at the Auditorium di Mecenate.
During the second stage, scheduled to be held from 9 to 11 July, short, guided tours will enable guests and those submitting a request (by registering on the www.altaroma.it/talentofrome website) to discover several of the treasures located in the area surrounding the Ex-Dogana. The tours will allow visitors to explore an additional 3 secret places of the Esquilino neighbourhood, each corresponding to a different historic period and opened specifically for the project: the Temple of Minerva Medica – Via Giovanni Giolitti, Villa Gentili Dominici – Piazzale Sisto V and the Neo-Pythagorean Basilica of Porta Maggiore – Piazzale Labicano.
The tour, which will include short stopovers at several of the district’s most symbolic landmarks, including Porta Tiburtina – Viale di Porta Tiburtina 18, Porta Maggiore – Piazza di Porta Maggiore and the Tomb of Eurysaces – Piazzale di Porta Maggiore, will serve as an opportunity for wider discussion on the area and its evolution. Places that are often glanced at in a cursory manner, due to the frenetic pace of city life, often conceal incredible historical backgrounds worth learning about. |
By following the new direction adopted by Altaroma, that is increasingly oriented towards focusing on emerging talent, the aim of Tale(nt) of Rome is to demonstrate the strong link between new creativity and opportunities for regional regeneration, revealing the image of a city, which differs from the institutional one and is, nevertheless, indispensable in understanding its evolution. The Esquilino and San Lorenzo neighborhoods not only constitute a part of the city that is rich in history but, above all, one that boasts a melting pot of different architectural styles and cultures, making it an example of a new urban vision capable of attracting enormous creative potential and once again becoming an indispensable source of inspiration for the rising stars of the future. |
The Tale(nt) of Rome project is curated by Cosmo (explorecosmo.com), a workshop of urban regeneration stemming from the meetings of people working in different fields, who share a desire to plot new coordinates for the recovery and fruition of our cultural heritage.
