The country director of Swiss Angels Foundation, Mr Francis Daffor gave words of encouragement to pupils of some basic schools in the Afadjato South and North Dayi District in the Volta Region. “Education is a very essential tool in the development of an individual and a nation as a whole.” He said.
He made this remark when he and his team from Swiss Angels Foundation, a new NGO visited some schools in deprived communities. Their first point of call was Tafi-Abuife D.A Basic School where they met the staff and Junior High School pupils. The students were advised to take their lessons seriously no matter the condition in which they find themselves. “Don’t be deceived that those in cities are better off than you. You will all write the same B.E.C.E therefore you must study hard in order to pass. Never feel inferior.” Mr Francis Daffor stated.
The assistant headmaster of the school, Mr Mark Mensah and the staff thanked the foundation for the donation and advised the students to put the items to good use. He appealed to the NGO and other organizations to help provide the school with some computers and furniture in order to aid the teaching of ICT.
The foundation’s next stop was Tafi-Atome D.A Junior High School which has the largest student population in the district. After the donation, the headmaster appealed to the NGO and other bodies to help complete a classroom block that has been abandoned since 2011 in order to accommodate students.
The tour came to and end at Vakpo- Fu and Jordanu D.A Basic School where students received some stationery and were advised to be studious. The assistant headmaster said, they would be grateful if other bodies could do same and provide them with a lawn mower to help them in clearing their large compound. Other members of the foundation present were Diana Akpah, Maxwell Daffor and Abel Kutor.
