Stephanie Benson celebrates 52nd birthday today.

Today marks the 52nd birthday of Princess Akua Ohenewaa Asieanem of Kokobin, a U.K based Ghanaian protuberant jazz queen, better known as Stephanie Benson. It’s very paramount to travel back to history and unearth her achievements and successes over the years, since today is her big day. To remind her of her young days as an amateur who only had ambition, focus, passion, talent and willpower in abundance to be the best in her world. Guess what? She ended up as one of the best music icons in the world.

In a way to celebrate her success as an artist, let me take you back to how her career started off and share throwback pictures of some of her current and past performances. With so much burning desire to allow her creative clouds to float, her music career took off at a nightclub in London at a very young age. She was spotted by pop executive Pete Waterman, owner of Pete Waterman Limited (PWL) but now Pete Waterman Entertainment while singing one night. Her signage to PWL was the beginning of her success story. Working with the label exposed her to many world class acts and famous people at the time; Stevie Wonder, Wayne Vaugh, Kylie Minogue, Tina Turna, Bucks Fizz, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Iron Mike Tyson & many others. After her contact with PWL ended, she established her own record label – Benson Music Limited.

In bid to groom and promote professional international standard relating to stage performances, rehearsals, theatre shows, TV shows & music concert as well as serving commercial purposes, she established BENSON ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTION INSTITUTE (BEPI) to serve that purpose. She also established a breast cancer foundation called Stephanie Benson Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness, educated, uplift, educate, support, empower women who are breast cancer victims.

There are billions of people on planet earth, but Stephanie Benson was singled out to perform for The Royal British household; Prince Charles, Princess Ann & Prince William at a private gathering on different occasions. In a nutshell, it drums home how huge she is outside Ghana and how hard she’s raising the flag of Ghana out there. Her success deserves to be celebrated. Happy birthday to the jazz queen.
