Minister of Sports, Isaac Asiamah has debunked rumours that government would refund Asamoah Gyan’s moneyused to pay for a chartered flight for the Black Stars.

Reports have suggested that the Black Star’s captain had transported the Black Stars from Brazzaville to Accra after their 5-1 thrashing of Congo in a World Cup qualifier.

Gyan revealed that he was forced to make arrangements for the team after poor planning by the Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars management team.

However, while speaking at the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, Asiamah said Gyan rescued the team at his own expense. “For us as a ministry, we have our arrangements, that was what was in place, there was nothing [like] we reneged our duty or on our obligation, because everything was in place. So if the captain decides to pay that from his own pocket that is fine…we as a ministry we won’t complain.”

He added that the ministry “never breached our arrangement”.
