Praying inwardly for heavenly strength, she pushed as best as she could and quickly ran for the door, successfully making it out this time.

As she ran she cried for the good times, for the child they had planned on having, cried that she had no one to talk to, for having pushed her mother away when she tried to make her see the foolishness of her acts.

Most of all, she cried out of guilt because she knew in her heart that perhaps letting them take him away would have been best for everyone.

He had never been violent before the strange illness stole his sanity. He had been her best friend, confidant and protector for over seven years and her determination to hold on to those memories had been born out of fear; fear of losing the man she loved with all her heart.

She was confused about what to do next, but she knew she was going to get him the help he needed somehow. She knew that all of his aggressiveness towards her wasn’t intentional; he had no idea what he was doing.

She was going to correct her mistake and she knew exactly how, she thought with new-found determination.

Maybe letting him be taken away was the best way to show her love, whether he’d return or not was not certain, but she was suddenly filled with the resolve to fix him, to try to make things better again.
