Toke Makinwa‘s big sister, Ope is a year older today.
Ope, who’s Toke’s senior by only a year, assumed the mother role to her younger siblings after their parents died in a fire accident when she was just 9 – as revealed in Toke’s bestselling memoir, ‘On Becoming’.
The media star had nothing but kind words and a few sisterly jibes in-between as she took to Instagram to celebrate her.
“Happy birthday to my soul mate, you became a mum to all of us at such a young age and you’ve never stopped looking out for us. You sacrifice so much sis, how you put our needs before your own is beyond me.❤️ Thank you for the years of sisterhood, thank you for being a good example for all of us❤️ I really don’t know what my life will be like if you weren’t in it, I pray today and always that God keeps you, may he grant all your heart desires, may you always be first sis. Love you OpyMaks, thank you for being you, I don’t get to say thank you enough so here it is again, THANK YOU! Your heart is gold and if I have to come to this world again I pray I come as your baby sis again so I can annoy you, make you laugh, wear all your cloths before you do and just have you in my life. You were my first friend, we did everything together as kids and I remember how in secondary school I would spend all my pocket money and you will share yours with me????? even though that one time they came to visit us and I was no where to be found and you took part of my pocket money and only confessed on our way home (I still remember) ????? Love you sis, have a great day @ladymak_ ❤️❤️❤️❤️” she wrote.
