Rihanna’s love for her family and roots has never been in doubt. But when it comes to business, the singer and serial entrepreneur isn’t afraid to draw the line.
According to TMZ, the Bajan superstar born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is suing her father, Ronald Fenty for false advertising and illegal attempts to profit from her trademarked brand name, Fenty.
Ronald and a partner identified as Moses Perkins created a talent development company called Fenty Entertainment in 2017 which claims on its website and social media pages to be affiliated with Rihanna. The lawsuit filed on January 15 claims that the two “have egregiously and fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company, Fenty Entertainment, LLC, is affiliated with Rihanna, and has the authority to act on her behalf.”
It goes on to read that, “Mr. Fenty and Mr. Perkins have used these lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorized to act on Rihanna’s behalf, and/or that Rihanna would perform at various locations throughout the world.”
The suit also claims that Ronald has ignored multiple cease and desist letters from Rihanna and that “although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf, nor has he ever been authorized to use her name, intellectual property or publicity rights.”
