Late last week, Barbadian superstar Rihanna launched a video campaign introducing her long-anticipated Fenty Beauty cosmetics line, and it’s all about celebrating diversity.

Among the models featured in the campaign is Halima Aden, the fierce Somali-American who has been taking the world by storm as one of the first hijab-wearing models to make it to the biggest runways in the industry.

“I want to thank the Queen herself @badgalriri […] for the opportunity of a lifetime! #historyinthemaking,” the 19-year-old model wrote on Instagram.

With the beauty industry often restricting their products to a narrow spectrum of clients, it seems as though Rihanna’s cosmetic line will cater to women of all skin tones, especially those with dark skin.

The minute-long video teaser has been lauded for featuring a diverse roster of nearly 15 models, including a plus-size model and a hijabi.

Rihanna’s cosmetics line comes following a deal with the Kendo division of LVMH, which also produces Marc Jacobs Beauty and Kat Von D Cosmetics.

Fenty Beauty, which hails itself as “the new generation of beauty,” will hit the shelves globally at retailers Sephora and Harvey Nichols starting September 8.

Halima Aden has been making waves in the fashion industry

Aden was born in a refugee camp in Kenya and moved to the U.S. when she was 7 years old.

She first made international headlines in 2016 when she became the first Miss USA contestant to wear a hijab.

She competed in the Miss Minnesota beauty pageant and made it to the top 15 out of 44 women.

Since then, she has gained worldwide attention and soon became the first hijabi model to sign with international modeling agency IMG Models, which is home to Gigi and Bella Hadid and Miranda Kerr.

Earlier this year, she walked the New York Fashion Week runway showcasing Kanye West’s Yeezy collection.
