The Real Housewives of Lagos premiered on Friday, April 8, 2022, and it’s everything and more than what we expected.

RHOLagos

It’s just the first episode, and sparks and interests are already flying everywhere. The fashion game is on point, we’re already getting gists, and we’re getting an insight into the businesses of these wealthy Lagos housewives.

The highly-anticipated reality show promised to give us a peek into the lives of six of Lagos’ most affluent women, and from the first episode, we are already seeing the drama from the housewives – Carolyna Hutchings, Toyin Lawani-Adebayo, Mariam Timmer, Iyabo Ojo, Chioma Ikokwu and Laura Ikeji.

Here are five things we love about the first episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos.

1. Toyin Lawani-Adebayo was made for reality TV

She was the first cast we were introduced to at the beginning of the episode, and the placement is just perfect.

Aside from the evident love she has for her work as a fashion designer, Toyin Lawani is open, funny and simply the life of the party. The perfect type of person for a reality TV show.

In her words, ‘The day they created fun, it was Tiannah’s name that was there.’

2. Chioma Ikokwu’s Style

Chioma Good Hair is carrying the show on her back with her fashion choices, and we are not mad about it. While Toyin Lawani gives runway fashion, Chioma is giving class. From her well-laid hair – she is ‘Chioma Good Hair’, so we don’t expect anything less, to her makeup and outfit choices. Everything about her oozes class.

3. Iyabo Ojo is bringing the culture and entertainment

Our first introduction to the owambe life of a true Lagos housewife was at Iyabo’s scene. It is quite expected because she says she likes parties and she’s known for her iconic owambe fits. Her show of culture has introduced international fans of the franchise to what a typical owambe looks like, and we are glad she’s promoting the Nigerian owambe culture to the global audience.

Aside from the drama, we want to see the beauty of our cultures.

4. Laura Ikeji is the drama

Is Laura the drama? Yes, she might just be the drama everyone has been expecting from the show. Toke Makinwa, the host of the RHOLagos exclusive launch party had said ‘she seems to be the troublemaker.’

As soon as she entered the party scene, tension started brewing. She openly expressed why she didn’t understand why the other housewives were making a fuss about Chioma. She rejected Iyabo’s offer to bond at a beach party, and she doesn’t seem to like Carolyna as well. She came with a truck-load of drama and we can’t wait for her to start offloading..

5. Carolyna is extra, and she owns it

Carolyna is not trying to be humble about her achievements or that she is extra. She lives for the fact that people know that she is the belle of the ball and the center of attraction.

Will that cause a problem? The next episode is showing exclusively on Showmax next Friday; let’s wait and see
