When Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, announced her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, I was excited. I mean, who wouldn’t be? Well… apparently, quite a few people.
Some critics, called it tone-deaf, arguing that it felt out of touch with the world’s current realities.
Meghan McCain, one of these critics, actually came out swinging against Meghan Markle after the Duchess of Sussex premiered the official trailer of With Love Meghan.
“This concept is ill advised,” McCain wrote in a post on X. “I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighborhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.”
Well, McCain might have such strong words, but that didn’t stop me and many other Meghan lovers from diving into the With Love Meghan show the moment it premiered on March 4.
To be honest, my expectations weren’t sky-high. I thought, Let me watch one episode and then find something else (I was actually in the mood for an action movie that evening). But, oh my—one episode in, and I was hooked!
You know that soft life we all dream of? The one where your career is thriving, family drama is handled, marriage is solid, kids are great, and you actually have time to enjoy yourself? That’s the world this show takes you into.
Meghan invites us into her home (well not her actual house), where she hosts friends, whips up meals, shares kitchen secrets, and gives us glimpses into her life. This isn’t the Meghan we saw who stood her ground as Rachel Zane in Suits. It’s not the Meghan who battled press scrutiny or royal family drama. This is just Meghan who has been through all of that and is now relaxed, having fun, and showering love on her guests.
She’s a natural host, effortlessly making even her most camera-shy guests feel at ease (I won’t spoil which episode, but trust me, you’ll notice). She’s also incredibly warm toward the production crew—seriously, how much of a saint can you be, Meghan?
And let’s talk about how much she adores her family. She casually weaves in stories about her kids, her love for being a wife and mother, and you can tell it’s all genuine.
Beyond the vibes, With Love, Meghan is packed with little surprises. Did you know she can make a Ladybug Sandwich? (Yes, Ladybug—not Ladybird.) Or that she has a thing for DIY hacks you wouldn’t expect a duchess to know? She even does this adorable little victory dance when she eats something delicious—so relatable!
And the kitchen? It’s like stepping into your grandma’s pantry—filled with nostalgic treasures like dried citrus and zobo leaves (hibiscus). Meghan, where do you find the time?! But the sweetest part? She’s passing these traditions down to her kids. A full-circle moment. The royal family could never!
One of my favourite details? Every guest on With Love Meghan Netflix show leaves with a thoughtful take-home gift—not just for their families but for their pets too. Meghan, when are you accepting fans as visitors?
Another favourite thing about this show is that you actually learn a whole lot of cooking tips that are way simplified even though you are not a fan of cooking.
But don’t mistake this for another bougie cooking show or Real Housewives content. With Love Meghan is something different. It’s a woman sharing her love for the kitchen and the people in her life in the most heartwarming way.
With Love Meghan isn’t a show to binge-watch in one sitting—it’s one to savour. With only eight episodes, you’ll want to pace yourself. Because once it’s over, you’ll be left wanting more.
I don’t know about you, but I want a friend like Meghan. Actually, scratch that—I want to be the Meghan in my friend group.
With Love, Progress
