Alexis Arquette died on September 11 at the age of 47 and her medical reports reveal she lived with HIV for 29 years.
According to her death certificate, obtained by the Los Angeles Times, Arquette had been diagnosed with HIV 29 years before her death at the age of 47. This suggests she contracted the disease at age 18, LA Times reported.
The official cause of Arquette’s death was declared as cardiac arrest, yet, three weeks before her final passing, she was suffering from bacterial endocarditis and a heart infection.
The actress and transgender activist, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She was surrounded by her family. Alexis took her last breathe while being serenaded by David Bowie’s “Starman”.

She was born as Robert into the famous Hollywood ‘Arquette’ family.
In her late 30’s, Arquette transitioned from male to female. Those experiences were documented in the film ‘Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother’, which debuted at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
