A University is a great height to acquire a career and all its disciplines as envisaged.Ghana is one of few countries in Africa that can boast of great tertiary institutions having produced the best grades of human resources for the corporate world.
The highest hierarchy of the Tertiary institution is the Vice Chancellor and the SRC President or council is the highest body among the students.
There should always be that cordial relationship between the two with the former representing the student body on the academic council.
The Incidence that took place 22nd of October should be condemned in no uncertain terms.
The Alumni groups needs to know their boundaries when it comes to resolving conflicts within campus.
They have a strong voice and as such should be put to good use.
The SRC President also needs to exercise some level of restraints and decorum when the council receives complaints against the academia,Or any other departments of the school.
That not withstanding, the VC should know that the SRC is an independent body with laid down rules and regulations.;He shouldn’t interfere too much in their interest but only when it gives room for worry.
SRC has a core mandate to dialogue not to go on demonstration which they know has the tendency to escalate.
Now look at the effect which outweighs the causes of the whole Incidence.
Two wrongs don’t make a right and it’s about time we all take a clue from that assertion irrespective of our status in this country.
Every leader has followers and it behooves on a leader to accord respect to its followers or subordinates to ensure mutual relationship..If you Lord your position over your subordinates then of course know you’re sitting on a time bomb. Through these all I must state emphatically that discipline is losing its essence in this country. We give credence to Vigilante groups when we have a strong security institutions we need to strengthen..
The Political dynamics traces its root from our tertiary institutions and there is therefore a need to take tactical approach towards discipline in our Tertiary institutions.
As it stands now,we have an interim committee to see to the administration of KNUST;we wish them well but government needs to expedite an explicit position of the Vice Chancellor and the current SRC President.
This is an empirical Take of a trained SRC President under #GARSRC..It’s Subject to correction and addition Folks.
