The Rastafari Council, Ghana has met the Police Management Board (POMAB) to discuss the issue of profiling of Rastafari in Ghana. According to the President of the Rastafari Council, Ghana (RCG) Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, the meeting was prompted by the trend of incessant Police harassment of Rastafari in the country.
Mr. Ocansey therefore called on the leadership of the Police Service to address this issue since it borders on human rights abuse.

In his reponse, the Director-General in charge of Legal and Prosecution at the Police Headquarters, Commissioner of Police (COP) Prosper Kwame Agblor assured the representatives of the RCG that their concerns have been noted and will be addressed.

The members of POMAB advised the RCG to step up their advocacy on the difference between the true Rastafari and those who hide under the image of dreadlocks to conduct criminal activities and other nefarious activities.
They also advised the Council to ensure that in addition to its public education exercise, it should ensure that its members comport themselves well.

Present at the meeting were POMAB members like COP Kofi Boakye, DCOP Patrick Akologo and ACP David Eklu among others. The RCG was represented by the Administrator, Kofi Asante; the chairman of the Advocacy Committee, Khex Pongo and Sena Dogbe, Secretary of the RCG.
