Veteran Los Angeles rapper and founding member of Living Legends crew, Murs currently holds the world record for longest rap marathon, after rapping for more than 24 hours straight.
He started at 9am on Wednesday, October 12 and ended at 11am on Thursday, October 13.
Taking only 5-minute breaks once every hour, the rapper performed his songs as well as hundreds of classic rap songs from other artistes like Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, E-40, Xzibit, Too $hort and Ice Cube e.t.c.
To ensure that his performance met requirements set forth by the governing body at Guinness World of Records, Murs reportedly had professionals on scene to track his progress.
Murs rapped his way through ‘80s and ‘90s hip-hop classics, showcasing an impressive mix of endurance and stylistic malleability in the process.
Throughout the marathon, the seemingly inexhaustible Murs effortlessly mimicked legendary rappers as he performed their timeless songs without missing a beat.
It’s worth noting that Murs’ record is for “marathon rapping” and not freestyle. As the Guinness World Record for the longest freestyle belongs to Chiddy Bang who freestyled for over nine hours back in 2011.
