The Royal Palace has announced that the Queen will not be attending the Royal Variety performance set to hold tonight.
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla is missing the performance because of her recent chest infection.
The statement noted that she is still experiencing some lingering post-viral symptoms while adding that her doctors had advised her to rest.
The statement read: “Following a recent chest infection, The Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritise sufficient rest.
“With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance. His Majesty will attend as planned.”
This is not the first time the Queen will be missing a high-profile event in recent times.
She had also missed the Remembrance events due to her ill-health.
Queen Camilla was also not present at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, nor the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph.
Buckingham Palace had announced at the time that she will mark the occasion “privately at home”.
The latest event the Queen is missing is the Royal Variety Performance, which takes place every year.
This year’s event will be hosted by comedian Alan Carr and actress Amanda Holden.
The Queen’s chest infection was first made public knowledge early November a week after she returned from a trip to Australia and Samoa with the King.
They had stopped over at India on the way back.
Announcing the infection at the time, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”
