The Ghana Police Service has arrested popular content creator and TikToker Christford Affadu Danful, widely known as Ekow Black, following the circulation of a viral video showing him physically assaulting a woman.
In a statement issued on its official Facebook page, the Police said Ekow Black was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026, through an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to preliminary investigations, Ekow Black and the woman involved previously lived together and had a history of disagreements, which allegedly escalated into verbal confrontations and physical assaults.
The arrest comes after a disturbing video surfaced on social media on Wednesday, January 14, capturing the content creator assaulting a young woman identified as Rechael, as onlookers reportedly watched without intervening. The footage sparked widespread public outrage, with many social media users demanding swift action from the Ghana Police Service.
Following the backlash, Ekow Black’s colleague, content creator and brand influencer Quecy Official, raised concerns about his emotional and mental state, stating that he had expressed deep regret over the incident and was struggling to cope with the intense public criticism. Quecy also claimed the video was an old recording involving a former partner, though he admitted he was not fully aware of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Despite the differing accounts, public opinion has largely remained firm that no situation justifies physical abuse.
Ekow Black is currently in lawful police custody and is expected to be put before court to face charges in accordance with the law.
The Ghana Police Service has reassured the public of its commitment to protecting lives, upholding the law, and ensuring that acts of violence are dealt with decisively
