After reading journalist, Eromo Egbejule’s article for The Guardian on the growing nightlife in Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram, Afrobeats sensation Mr Eazi decided to visit that region to see things for himself and make some important contributions.

Eromo Egbejule’s feature hinted that normalcy seemed to be returning to Maiduguri, after two years of being plagued by Boko Haram, and the youth have even gone back to clubbing. “From Wednesday till Friday, the young people go to dance to music by Mr Eazi, Tekno and Wizkid”mr-eazi-in-maiduguri6

Mr Eazi who had a show in Abuja last Sunday, contacted the journalist after searching for contacts via social media. He  told Eromo that he would like to visit those clubs in Maiduguri where his music was being played, and also donate something to some Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps.

“For me, I wanted to see things for myself. We had to meet the military in other to get permits to go there, and also inform them of our mission. We finally visited two camps, each holding over 20,000 persons. And I donated solar lamps in partnership with D’suon energy and Little Sun Energy Germany, as well as food items,” Mr Eazi recounted.
