The event which was the second edition after last year’s ceremony brought together several wine producers from South Africa to Ghana to interact with consumers, distributors and wholesalers as well as people in the hospitality and tourism industry.
This year’s event was held alongside preliminaries to select a hospitality industry/service worker for the prestigious Sommelier World Cup competition in South Africa. Sadly shortlisted applicants from Ghana could not qualify to win an all-expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa to represent the country at the Sommelier World Cup, in September 2016.
A lucky guest at the wine tasting event however won all-expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa to attend the Sommelier World Cup.
The the wine tasting event is a continuation of WOSA’s recognition of Ghana as a competitive market over the years for South African Wines. According to Mr Matome Mbatha, WOSA hopes the event will explore and offer more opportunities for Ghana’s hospitality and service industry to showcase their knowledge and talent in the prestigious wine industry and hopefully entrench the lifestyle culture of wine beyond the traditional markets.
The fair was held in partnership with the South African High Commissionin Ghana, Jon Williams Events Company and the EIB network. It is also supported by South African Airways, AmeyawDebrah.com and the Business and Financial Times.
