British singer Phil Collins on Monday announced that he is coming out of retirement after 10 years with a comeback tour next summer in London, Paris and Cologne.

The veteran star will play five nights in London followed by two dates each in Paris and Cologne, as part of his European tour in June, titled “Not Dead Yet, Live”.

Collins announced his retirement in 2011, after nerve damage left him unable to play the drums, but revealed last year he planned to go on tour.

The 65-year-old, rock veteran, whose hits include “In The Air Tonight” and “Another Day In Paradise”, has spoken openly about his struggle with alcoholism since his last tour almost 10 years ago, said:

“I stopped work because I wanted to be a dad at home. As bad luck would have it, as soon as I retired, my family split up.”

He continued while speaking to a press conference at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where the tour will kick off:

“I didn’t have anything to go home to really. That’s when I started drinking.”

He also stated that he would practice the iconic drum riff to In The Air Tonight on “a drum kit in the garage” as that was “something I feel I should do.

“It’s just a question of getting strength back.”

Collins further said his 15-year-old son Nicholas, who also plays drums, will be performing with him.

“Nicholas is in the learning stage, and he’s already a fantastic drummer,” he said.

Collins, who enjoyed more UK top 40 singles than any other artist of the 1980s, first came to prominence as the drummer and then frontman of Genesis.
