MIG/TWI CLAN RECORDS finest, OWOR is set to release a new single call “ WO NA ABATWE”.
Owor gives us some facts why he set to release this track. He said “I did the track to remind industry players of how rap use to be. And to Diss all who think rap is a child play and also for those who thought i gave up on rap and music as a whole. For the record we are busy doing other things beside music, it doesn’t mean we don’t write daily and i was somehow forced to write this Diss track listening to the kind of songs playing on radio along with it videos, it has no sense and doesn’t merit the songs of the old as compared to artists like Obrafour, Okomfour, Kwadee, PaaDogo, Lord Kenya and the like. Are we progressing or retrogressing? Questions i ask myself daily.
Also, its annoying hearing rappers spit with feeble punches, if it isn’t about money then it about cars but I wanted to remind everyone that there’s more to rap than sounding good on Dem beats. It might sound funny but my influence came as a result of the current standard of rap in Gh. I feel more should be done and I don’t see that happening. I feel we have lost pride in our local dialect and culture that speaking in proverbs in a form of rap is such a big deal but we take pride in foreign culture, we adore proverbs, peotry and spoken words that are mostly in English and i ask myself what it will take to write or recite those meaningful words in local dialects, one that the ordinary Ghanaian can relate to.
I strongly feel there should be a new era of art and music as a whole, the era that promotes our culture, tradition and heritage as a people and language through music. I have my favorites in the industry and yes am part of the top 5 and even more cause am going to redefine rap and music in general. He concluded by saying” we cant show the world what the world already know by emulating their believes including their culture and way of life but we can show them what it means to be a Ghanaian and the beauty that comes with it. Ka”twi. It’s one rap song but yes, it got this groove that will make you nodding your head and tapping your feet to the maximum as you jam along.
