The Obaasima seal launched during the week at the Moenvpick Hotel, Accra, is a campaign purpossely to help in the fight against micronutrient-malnutrition among women in Ghana.

The seal will serve as a trademark for highly nutritious food products women who have attained the reproductive agae. Every food product with the Obaasima seal is guaranteed to contain all the necessary minerals to provide protection for Ghanaian women against anaemia and other related diseases.

Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosa of The  National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in his welcome address stated stated that, the Obaasima seal is a symbol for good nutrition in women and as the name will have it is something formidably and complete. He assured Ghanaians to go for food products with the Obaasima seal, since its represents quality and it is security against hidden hunger in women. CEO of the AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah and Chief Standards Officer, GSA, Mr. Frank Kofi Nagetey also gave their remarks.

The Minister for Gender Atiko Djaba, representatives of Children and Social Protection, Trade and Industries, Food and Agriculture Ministry and German Ambassador were in attendance.

Obaasima seal  is designed and implemented by Affordable Nutritious Foods For Women (ANF4W) and Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) respectively with support from Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, Royal DSM Sight and Life and the German Cooperation.
