Ever wondered the critical benefits mentorship provides to individuals and sometimes organizations around the world? Over the years, mentorship has proved to be important for an individual’s career advancement. In the United States of America, historically, mentorship has been most apparent in relation to the advancement of women and minorities at several workplaces.
International broadcaster, motivational speaker, talk show host and the presenter of The Nana Churcher Show, Nana Churcher through her mentorship activities over the years has helped in building the capacity of several Ghanaian youth. She has exhibited her commitment to empowering the youth and assisting disadvantaged people around the world by taking her activities a notch higher.
Ahead of the Christmas festivities, the award winning host partnered with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), an independent agency of the United States Federal Government responsible for the civilian space program for an information session for selected Ghanaian students dubbed “Think Space”.
The students, selected from the Highbury International School in Accra had an amazing interactive session being lectured by engineers from NASA. The live skype session which lasted close to an hour and touched on several elements and topics including Astronomy, planet Mars, the International Space Station, Space Shuffle, Astronauts and Ghanaian NASA engineer, Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu.
Commenting on the session, Nana Churcher expressed her appreciation to the team at NASA, Mrs. Lily Mensah Aboagye, the Founder of Highbury International School and everyone who contributed in making the session a success. “I have been working on this for a while now and it gladdens my heart to see it materialize today, I give the ultimate glory to God for making it possible. It has been my desire to see such initiatives to help enlighten the younger generation and create amongst them an awareness of the bigger picture.
Together with my team, we are not going to relent in our efforts to help the younger generation scale into the next levels of their lives”, she added.
