The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is to embark on an anti-corruption walk on June 19 as part of the Union’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign entitled “The Role of Music in the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACAP).
As part of the campaign, a series of activities have been done. These include a recording on an All-Star song and video, a drama video and an anti-corruption walk in Kumasi among others.
According to the Union’s President, Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, “Our anti-corruption campaign is the Union’s contribution to the ongoing national campaign to fight this debilitating canker which affects not only the provision of services and infrastructural development but also casts a slur on the nation’s image.”
The walk which takes place from the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Hearts Park near the Centre for National Culture or Arts Centre in Accra will feature some top musicians who featured on the All Star anti-corruption song. They include EL who is the face of the campaign and composed the song, Kidi, Okyeame Kwame, Dr. Knii Lante and Cina Soul among others.
A number of organizations such as the Union of Informal Workers Association (UNIWA), Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Women in Performing Arts (WIPA) and Women in Gospel Music (WIGM).
The MUSIGA Anti-Corruption campaign is supported by STAR-Ghana Foundation and the walk is supported by organizations such as Kasapreko, Papaye Fast Foods and Special Ice among others.
