The C.E.O of BBNZ Live, Alvin Bekoe has indicated their outfit’s intention of taking Ghanaian music global. He was speaking at a meeting with a team from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) led by the President of the Union, Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour.
According to Mr Berkoe, BBNZ Live is embarking on a programme aimed at exposing Ghanaian music to the global audience. He said BBNZ Live is taking definite steps in that regard with initiatives such as international partnerships with artistes like Lauryn Hill, Naz and other internationally renowned artistes. He indicated that it is all part of a push to rebrand Ghanaian music and the nation as a whole.
Touching on the operations of BBNZ Live, he described the company as a creative arts organization dealing with the gamut of the entire arts although their launch pad has been music.
The President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour congratulated the leaders of BBNZ for their interventions in the music industry. He applauded their work so far and assured them of the Union’s support and preparedness to provide the necessary support for the realization of the outfit’s vision of propelling Ghanaian music onto the world market.
He also called on BBNZ to collaborate with the Union in supporting the Aged Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) and other initiatives of the Union and described the Union’s visit as part of a series of visits to selected labels in the country.
The C.E.O of Western Group, operators of Daily Guide Newspapers, owners of BBNZ, Kwame Edenkema Blay,reiterated the intention of their organization to contribute to the development of the music industry and ultimately make the Ghanaian musician independent. He expressed the preparedness of BBNZ Live to support MUSIGA in the development of the Ghanaian music industry. He expressed the need for such interactions with the Union to explore avenues of collaboration.
Touching on the work of BBNZ Live, he said the studio has an artiste incubation facility for talent development among other facilities such as rehearsal studios, space for conferences and a bar for album launches and listening parties. He also indicated that the group intends to expand its operations in the media space by commencing their radio and television stations early next year.
On his part, the Director of Business Development of MUSIGA, Richmond Adu-Poku said there are a number of areas in which MUSIGA and BBNZ could work, particularly in the area of talent development with the Music Incubation Project of the Union which involves over 150 budding talents at various stages of development.
Present at the meeting were Bessa Simons, the 1st Vice President of MUSIGA, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, the Director of Special Projects and Communications and Radnor Asafo-Adjei of the Membership Department of the Union. Others were Lil Shaker who is on the BBNZ Live label along with award winning artiste EL.
